Paddy straw presents a significant crop-residue management challenge.

At Radha Raman Green Energy, agricultural residue such as paddy straw is given a productive second life by utilising it as feedstock for renewable biogas production.

Instead of being treated simply as waste, agricultural biomass can become an energy resource — an alternative resource pathway that contributes toward addressing the wider crop-residue management challenge.

The Story

EIGHT STEPS
OF A SECOND LIFE.

THE CHALLENGE

Crop-residue management. Large volumes of paddy straw are generated after harvest, and managing that residue remains a significant regional challenge.

THE RESOURCE

Paddy straw. Viewed as a resource rather than a residue, straw carries energy value that can be recovered biologically.

THE PREPARATION

Preparing biomass for digestion. Straw is collected, handled and prepared to a condition suitable for controlled biological processing.

THE TRANSFORMATION

Anaerobic digestion. Organic material is digested in an oxygen-free environment using plug-flow / dry-digestion based technology.

THE ENERGY

Biogas. The biological process generates methane-rich raw biogas.

THE REFINEMENT

Biomethane. Raw biogas is treated and upgraded to increase methane concentration to the required quality.

THE OUTPUT

Compressed Bio-Gas. Upgraded biomethane is compressed to produce CBG.

THE CIRCULAR RETURN

FOM for agricultural use. Digestate from the process provides the basis for Fermented Organic Manure, returning organic material to agriculture.
